Hello all and welcome to a new season for Adventure and Catch Charters. As always, your always welcome onboard with a friendly smile and a happy expectation of a great experience, awesome adventure and an incredible catch! That is providing NO Bananas or Bud Lite are onboard!
This new season is shaping up incredibly well. Updates over the next month will be made for new boat work and equipment we will have onboard. Also, there is a new Facebook page for everyone to share and post our adventures-https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556795084195 .
However, for this post I was asked if I would mention a critical issue many veterans have post military. That issue relates to asbestos. Recently, I was asked by Andrew Jennings from Bergland Oslund –www.bergmanlegal.com, if I would be willing to post information about this topic on my site and as you could see, it is a resounding yes.
“Asbestos was used extensively all throughout the military. We now know about the diseases that exposure to asbestos causes, however, the damage has already been done for many veterans, and asbestos is even still in military applications. We put together a guide that lists 20 ways that asbestos was used in the military. Check it out below:” – Andrew Jennings

Now as you all know, I am a proponent of military issues and share many concerns regarding veterans and their affairs. I am not advocating this law-firm in anyway, other to say the issue that is presented and the material in this link I feel is worthy of note. Further, Mr. Jennings heard of my business through Fishing for the Mission 22 –https://fishingforthemission22.org/ and I wanted to shine more light on both this issue and the orginization – Fishing for the MIssion.
Finally, in closing the season will begin with sea trials and Red Fish/Pollock the weekend of March 30th and follow up April 1st with Haddock, Pollock, Red Fish and Cod from April 1st – 14th. And after that all your regular ground fishing. In addition, there will be overnight trips to Cashes Ledge made during the season. The new BOOKING function online has been implemented and now it is easier then ever to book your Adventure and Catch with Captain Andy. Hope to see you all out there on Big blue. – Capt. Andy
Recapping 2023 and looking forward to 2024
,,
What a season it was – 2023. Giant Pollock throughout the summer on Jefferys Ledge has to be one of the highlights. Another was the incredible Giant Bluefin Tuna catch that began mid July and carried all the way into November. As always, with the ups, also come the downs such as Spiny Dogfish and a lack of Haddock. So what happened? Why all the Dog Fish and so few Haddock? Lets look back at 2023.
The season began April 1st and the first charters found the Adventure and Catch out on Platts Bank and boy were the fish in! Boat limits on Cod and Haddock were the norm along with big Pollock. In addition, Old Scanum and Jefferys was incredibly kind with a Redfish catch that saw charters filling 150 qt. coolers (some up to 4 at a time) maxed with these incredible tasty fish. But, as the Spring rolled along the Haddock catch on Jefferys and Platts softened. Reports that commercial boats dragnetted and fished during March were shown on social media and in Adventure and Catch’s case, charting gill nets all along the northern finger of Jefferys told the whole story. So who won out? Well, its not a who, but a what – Spiny Dog Fish. These pesky fish affected the catch, but as always, where there is a will there is a way.
Needing to find the catch, BIG BIG Pollock were found thanks to a dose of good Karma and donating fishing charters to Fishing for a Mission (HOME – Fishing For The Mission 22) to help these proud men and women of our military find some moments of peace out on the water. Talk about going home with a freezer filled of fish- WOW!. In addition, to the Pollock, the big rods were put out and Bluefin Tuna was incredible. Further, for a first time, Adventure and Catch targeted commercial fish as well and offered targeted Tuna Charters for the true big boys and what a catch!
Going into 2024, the season will begin March 30th and begin targeting Red Fish and Pollock. Begininig April, Haddock and Cod will be added and as the season moves forward, Hake and Halibut will also be added to the list. Begining June, commercial and recreational Bluefin Tuna trips will be offered that will also give guests the chance to go for ground fish along with the Big Boys. During the spring, Porbeagle sharks will also be targeted as they are sport worthy fish to fight and incredible on the grill!.
New for this year are custom Tuna Rods made by ZCR as well as new custom Jigs for ground fishing. Also, custom butterfly hooks will also be employed and hookups and catch chances are going to go through the roof!
Finally, a new reservation system will be put in place begining Janary, 2024. This new system will allow guests to select their day and type of trip along with the option to pay partial or in full directly online. The will all be completed through the good folks at Fareharbor. Lastly, thank you all for making Adventure and Catch Charters what it is- A family, friend and special occasion ocean charter that creates memories that will last a lifetime and a catch that is always a surprise when it comes up by hook line and sinker..
About the Captain and the Adventure and Catch
Captain Andy is a USCG OUPV 25 ton Captain with Inshore & Offshore Masters endorsement who has been fishing his whole life. Having grown up originally in New York, he began fishing with his father in Moriches Bay, Sheepshead Bay, off the shore in Rockaway, NY and with his Father In-Law, Paul, off Montauk Point.
At 26, the Captain moved to New Hampshire and began fishing its many lakes and rivers for anything that moved in the water. Since moving to the Seacoast area, some 15 years ago, he began fishing in-shore and off-shore.
His passion for the ocean and its beauty is obvious. Given the chance, he would stay out on the water where new sights, sounds, and excitement can always be found. His first priority is always safety and security of his passengers and his vessel. Further, the Adventure and Catch is both OUPV charter and commercially inspected to meet all water and boat safety criteria. In addition, Captian Andy is also a certified boat safety drill instructor
The Adventure and Catch is a 31′ down east style boat with a pilot house and cuddy cabin to get out of the weather and has a full marine head (Bathroom). It is powered by Yanmar Diesel Engine and the boat is maintained by Dover Marina. Currently, she is docked at Great Bay Marina, slip – D42. Her cruising speed is 20-22 knots on a calm day and 18 knots with some “chop”. So getting out to the fishing grounds is fast and smooth.

Captain Robin Calitari – Seacoast Fly Fishing (www.seacoastflyfishing.com)
Almost forty years ago, a New Hampshire taxidermist convinced Robin Calitri , of Seacoastflyfishing.com, that striped bass and bluefish could be caught on fly tackle. Since that time, Robin has been an avid saltwater fly fisherman. He has shared his knowledge with friends and family and began guiding professionally in 2000. He has poled around the flats of Florida in search of tarpon and bonefish, worked the Merrimack River in Massachusetts for stripers, and he fishes in fresh water bass tournaments.Captain Robin guided a group of anglers to the remote Palmyra Atoll in search of bonefish and giant trevally for the Orvis Company. His main focus is sight fishing for stripers on the Great Bay Estuary in the Seacoast area of New Hampshire. Feel free to contact Robin at 516 383 0508
